WHAT IS EMULSIFYING WAX?

This is a question that I get asked a lot. Is it good? Is it bad? What does it do? So here are my answers for you.

what it is:

It is a known datum that both water and oil do not mix together and require a medium for them to coexist.  Numerous products have been developed over the years to help create this coexistence by producing a wax that has both a water loving end and an oil loving end.  This ensures that when both water and oiil are used in a product they do not seperate but essentially exist as one.

In the past the majority of emulsifying waxes were petroleum derived, and if a product lists only ‘emulsifying wax’ in its ingredients you can be sure that’s what it is.

More recently vegetable and natural emulsifying waxes have become available to keep up with the demand for natural products.  These are products of extractions of different natural ingredients to form a product that can act as a medium to connect both oil and water together.

While they may be “naturally derived” It is important to understand where the emulsifying wax comes from and how it is extracted or made to ensure that while the end product may be naturally derived, the process of how it was derived may have been through a lot of chemical processes which could have potentially left traces of these toxic ingredients in the end product.

I think it’s important that every ingredient of the products you use works with the skin, nourishing it and supporting it’s natural functions.

my recommended natural emulsifying waxes:

There are a couple of Emulsifying Waxes that I have studied, researched and looked into that I feel are both safe, effective and do not contain traces of toxic ingredients.   These are:

Vegetable Emulsifying Wax – Also known as Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Glucoside

It is derived from plant-based alcohols and sugars.  It is usually derived from sustainable palm sources, wheat or corn.  It is approved by ECOCERT, COSMOS and Natrue.  It is PEG-free, preservative-free and it is extracted without a solvent. It is also bio-degradable.

Olivem 1000 – Also known as Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate

It is derived from a blend of vegetable oil fatty acids and wheat and oat proteins.  It is PEG-free, preservative-free and it is extracted without a solvent.  It is biodegradable and promotes skin hydration.
ALTERNATIVE TO AN EMULSIFYING WAX:

Now if you are looking for a product that still contains both oil and water but does not contain an emulsifying wax you have come to the right place.

Based on demand and the requests for a truely natural identical product, and one that can be used by any and all skin types, especially those with super super super sensitive skin, I came up with a product that does not use an emulsifying wax to combine both oil and water.

After years of testing and trialing I did it! I have created a truely unique organic moisturiser that can be used by any skin type, but specifically for those that suffer from extremely sensitive skin that uses beeswax to combine both water and oil rather than an emulsifying wax.

It has been believed that this process was no possible and that is could not be done however after a lot of trial and error I have mastered this technique.  This is a product that does not exist anywhere else on the market today.  It works to heal, nourish and protect the skin using nature alone.

It has been proven time and again that for those with super super super sensitive skin that there was no reaction with using this product.

Please note that this is not a balm which are generally a thicker, solid product and are comprised fully of oils.  It is a lotion consistency and with the water content allows it to be more readily absorbed by the skin.

One might think that this would be a heavy, greasy moisturizer but you will be surprised at its ability (at a small amount) to seamlessly absorb into the skin and perfectly moisturizer it.  Unrefined and organic beeswax is full of antibacterial properties and forms a protective barrier on the skin and does NOT clog the pores.  It is also rich in Vitamin A; a vital component to healthy, younger looking skin.

One might ask why would I create a product like this instead of a solid balm. The answer is that I find the addition of water to a product helps with the absorbtion of the other products within.  This is even true with face oils, where they are better absorbed straight after you wash or tone your skin and before it completely dries.

If you are looking for that something that is truely different, if you suffer from super sensitive skin then this might just be the product for you.

Here is that product Botanical Moisturising Serum
